Sketches, Projects, Ideas .. Oh My!

There isn't really any particular order to when I did these and some of them still aren't finished, seeing as they were just ideas I had to get on paper, or something I came across in research and wanted to put my spin on.

This is a fox drawing I came across and referenced, but haven't finished it because I wanted to see different thoughts with it, I also needed help with the line work and being more consistent with proportions.

These were a part of a series we did as a project in my 2D design class, we were working on color schemes and changing perspective through colors, I really like pineapples and enjoyed the project, I didn't have a picture of the finished project, yet.

This was a project we did with texture, we had to take a photograph and cut it up to show texture and manipulate the photo so that we couldn't tell what the original looked like, yet still make it visually appealing, I liked making it off of 3 squares using the rule of thirds.

I have always had a connection with Native American culture, and dream catchers have always had a great significance to me.  I saw a picture of one with a paw in the middle so I got the idea from that, but then I also liked playing around with the shapes and seeing what looked good, this is just the beginning sketch.

We had to do another project in my 2D design class where we had to come up with a symbol that was 2 inches by 2 inches and repeat the shape at least 7 times, I thought this was a fun project and it really reminded my of some sort of hypnosis show!

I had a coming to with nature, I found most artists have some sort of relationship with nature and their interpretations, ( Along with this is the fox at the top of the page) I like the free flowing lines and the rounded edges, I love the patterns. I think that life is full of patterns and I like a break in pattern that somehow makes sense still. . . or at least looks good. I also am experimenting with the lighting of the hair, using the colors complement to shade in one side and using highlights on the other side to make it look more 3D and pop out more.

This reminded me of the constant battle that we all have going on inside of us, the struggle and the triumphs and the way that outside sources influence or portray something that may not be the real story. The joys of life that come and the parties and good times with friends and family, The sadness and struggle of trying to support a family or even yourself and how something may seem like a good idea at first but then hindsight kicks in and you have to live with the consequences that arise.
